Every great journey starts with a question. Here are the answers.

Where is StillTrail based?

StillTrail is a USA-registered LLC with all travel operations delivered on the ground in Nepal through trusted local partners. This means you get the reliability of a US company with the depth of authentic local expertise.

Who are your local partners in Nepal?

We work exclusively with licensed, experienced Nepali trekking operators who share our values — fair wages, small groups, and genuine cultural respect. We don’t work with whoever is cheapest; we work with whoever is best.

How small are your groups?

Maximum 10 people. Always. Smaller groups mean better access, more personal attention, and a lighter footprint on the trail.

Can I book a private trip?

Absolutely. Most of our clients prefer private departures — just you, your group, and your dedicated guide. Contact us and we’ll build it around your dates and interests.

How do I book a trip with StillTrail?

Start by sending us an inquiry through our Contact page. We’ll respond within 24 hours to discuss your trip, answer questions, and send a custom proposal. No pressure, no rush.

What is your deposit policy?

We require a 25% deposit to secure your booking, with the remaining balance due 60 days before departure.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept bank transfers, major credit cards, and PayPal. All payments are processed securely via SSL encryption.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made 60+ days before departure receive a full refund minus the deposit. Within 30–60 days, 50% is refunded. Within 30 days, no refund is issued. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers trip cancellation.

TREKKING & FITNESS

How fit do I need to be to trek in Nepal?

It depends on the trip. Our classic treks like Langtang Valley require general fitness — someone who walks regularly and can handle long days on your feet. Peak climbing trips require serious fitness training beforehand. Every trip page includes a fitness guide so you know exactly what to prepare for.

I've never trekked before. Can I still join?

Yes — several of our treks are designed for first-timers. The Langtang Valley Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek are great starting points. We’ll always be honest about whether a trip is right for you.

What is the best time of year to trek in Nepal?

The two best windows are October to November (post-monsoon, clear skies, rich landscapes) and March to May (pre-monsoon, rhododendron blooms, warm days). We operate year-round but will always advise you on ideal timing for your specific trek.

re your guides licensed and experienced?

Every guide we work with is government-licensed, English-speaking, and has years of experience on their specific routes. They’re not just trail leaders — they’re storytellers, safety officers, and cultural bridges.

What kind of accommodation is used on treks?

We use the best available teahouses on each route — clean, comfortable, and locally owned. On select trips, we also offer lodge upgrades or luxury tented camps. Every trip page specifies accommodation standards.

What happens if I get altitude sickness?

our guide is trained to recognize the signs of altitude sickness (AMS) and will follow strict protocols — acclimatization days are built into every itinerary. In serious cases, descent or helicopter evacuation is arranged immediately. Safety is never negotiable.

Will I have access to mobile or internet on trail?

Most popular trails have mobile coverage and WiFi at teahouses, though it can be limited above certain altitudes. We recommend using this as a chance to disconnect — that’s part of the magic.

Do I need a visa for Nepal?

Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, or apply online in advance. Current fees are approximately $30 (15 days), $50 (30 days), or $125 (90 days). We recommend checking with your country’s embassy for the latest requirements.

What insurance do I need?

Travel insurance is mandatory for all StillTrail trips. Your policy must cover emergency evacuation and helicopter rescue at high altitude. We can recommend trusted providers if needed.

What currency should I bring?

US Dollars are the easiest to exchange in Kathmandu. ATMs are available in Kathmandu and Pokhara but become scarce on the trails. We recommend carrying enough cash for tips, personal purchases, and emergencies.

Are tips expected for guides and porters?

Tipping is customary and deeply appreciated. As a rough guide: $10–15/day for your guide and $5–8/day for your porter is considered generous and fair. We’ll provide a full tipping guide before your trip.
